Millwright Context is a small, Melbourne-based communications consultancy with expertise in scientific and technical writing and editing. We also provide stakeholder and media relations advice and services, principally in the Victorian market.
We specialise in producing or editing content on complex technical subjects in science, agriculture, medicine, engineering, economics and the environment for publication to a general, non-technical readership, as well as for publication to specialised audiences.
'Editorial engineering'
We describe our core business as 'editorial engineering' as it typically spans the fields of research, interviewing, writing, structural editing, copy-editing, proof-reading and pre-press production.
Millwright can produce texts from scratch, including interviews with stakeholders, or we revise and refine drafts produced by the client. We are experienced copy editors and we have considerable experience in working with or directing graphic designers and printers.
Track record
Millwright Context Pty Ltd was established in 1999 by Nancy Mills and Brett Wright, after many years of experience in communications and journalism. Millwright has researched, written or edited publications and reports on a wide range of scientific and technical subjects. Our clients have included government departments and agencies, as well as private clients in construction, property, scientific research, chemicals, energy, packaging, education and human services (see select client list below).
We have written for diverse Australian and international target audiences, including scientists, business people, primary producers, politicians, government bureaucrats, economists, school students and the general public. We also have numerous media contacts in newspapers, magazines and the electronic media.
